Macclesfield Astronomical Society observing trips run from the designated
date on Friday evening to the following Sunday morning. Currently, the
cost per person is £35.00, which includes two over-nights, two
breakfasts, refreshments and a light lunch on the Saturday ...
A £10.00 deposit is payable beforehand. We meet on Friday evening
at the chip shop in Hawes at 20:00 before making our way to Harris House.
However, there is normally one of the Committee members at the House from
about 18:30 if you need to drop off your equipment – please check
beforehand. Harris House is the first building on the left on entering
the village from the West, or the last building on the right if entering
from the East. Car parking at the House is limited.
Please bring the following: sleeping bag or duvet/sheet and pillow; towels;
toiletries; tea-towel; torch with red filter; warm clothes - at least
two layers for observing; hat; gloves; boots and small rucksack if walking
on Saturday.
A sleeping bag essential as the bunk beds have mattresses but no bed linen.
There are a couple of private rooms that are available to partners on
a first come first served basis.
We sometimes have a meal on Saturday night in a local restaurant, therefore
smart (but not formal) wear is required. If you have special dietary requirements,
please let us know well before the event.
The dates for 2010 are as follows:
February 12th to 14th
April 2nd to 4th
September 3rd to 5th
November 5th to 7th
December 3rd to 5th
If for any reason you need to contact members of the MAS Committee

If you will be arriving from a different
